Hey there and welcome to my section of True Colors Counseling!

When I’m not following my passion of helping my clients, you can find me spending quality time with my husband and three kids. As a wife and mom, there’s rarely a dull moment, so when I get some “me” time I will be … taking a walk, reading a book, listening to the latest podcast while tending to my home, cuddling with my cats while watching Netflix, or connecting with friends or family over coffee or a meal.

After working as a cosmetologist for a few years, I discovered my passion for people and allowing others the opportunity to share their stories. I noticed how they felt better after doing so. A deep appreciation for those experiences led me to earn my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Hardin—Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. After a phenomenal undergraduate experience, and a brief maternity leave to care for my second baby, I went on to gain my masters in Clinical Counseling and Marriage & Family Therapy from Hardin-Simmons.

During my masters program, I was blessed with a precious third child, followed by the surprise of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the last few years of working with couples and individuals, I have recognized the value of a variety of therapeutic interventions that help with a number of mental health issues, life challenges or transitions, and the abundant need for care in trauma-related issues. I also quickly became aware of ways in which the pandemic introduced tragedy and struggles in the lives of nearly everyone.

As a counselor, I understand the importance of active listening and providing validation. Utilizing strength-based, solution-focused, mindfulness, and emotionally-focused approaches is essential in providing therapy that is as unique as each individual client. I strive to be authentic, compassionate and validating with the goal that my clients can be themselves, and set forth on a journey of self-discovery and growth.

I believe in the strength of the therapeutic relationship as an essential key to the success in a client’s journey. If you’re ready and willing to get started, I would be honored to provide you the safe, supportive space to discover or rediscovering your own true colors.
